Org. Setting and Reporting
This position home base is located within European Area of Operations and involves regular travel within Europe and the Globe. The Close Protection Operative reports directly to the Close Protection Coordinator through his/her Team Leader on all close protection issues.
Responsibilities
a) Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Close Protection Team Leader, the Close Protection Operative will carry out the following duties:
b) Conducts close protection operations for designated Client;
c) Remains within the proximity of the “Client” at all times and implements mitigating measures to preserve his/her security and safety and overall wellbeing;
d) Remains vigilant and alert at all times due to potential threats to the Client and their immediate family;
e) Maintains an effective and efficient security coverage for the office, personal residence and locations of attendance of the Client;
f) Conducts close protection operations in accordance with their Training, Guidance and Direction of the Team Leader;
g) Coordinates activities with relevant parties and interlocutors including other appropriate security
organizations as required;
h) Co-ordinates with local authorities during close protection operations;
i) Assists in the Performance of advance work and implement pre-established security arrangements;
j) Contributes to pre-deployment briefings;
k) Operates all close protection equipment and logistics to ensure its operational readiness;
l) Participates fully in training sessions on all matters relevant to close protection matters in order to keep abreast with current tactics, techniques, procedures and principles;
m) Perform any other Close Protection associated duties as required;
Work Environment implies frequent interaction with the following
a) Team Leader Close Protection Unit
b) Other Close Protection Officers, Private Security Entities and Law Enforcement Agencies.
c) Host Government officials’.
d) Client, client’s immediate family and work associates.

Education
a) Post-Secondary School Education.
b) Participation in any of the DSS programs i.e. Security Certification Program (SCP), Security Analysis Practice Process (SAPP) and Hostage Incident Management is an asset.
c) Successful Completion of an international, national or commercial close protection training course is desirable.
d) Paramedical or emergency medical training is an asset.
e) High standard of physical fitness is required and must be maintained throughout engagement.
f) Training in martial arts and/or specialized security practices is an asset.
Work Experience
a) A minimum of six years’ experience in the military, police or security management is required.
b) A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in close protection operations with a national, private or international security organization is required.
c) At least one year experience and exposure at the international level in a conflict or a high risk duty station is required.
d) Experience and proficiency in the use of close protection weapons, communications, surveillance
equipment, and vehicles is required;
e) Knowledge of CP operations in a high risk environment is desirable.
f) Experience in close protection of one or more principals, static and mobile protection, close protection command post operations, close protection response technique.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of this position. For the position, fluency in oral and written English is mandatory.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
